the deepfake that wasn't

by Priya Raghavan · Apr 2, 2026

A newsroom reached out in a panic. A clip of a public figure saying something they never said was spreading — and it looked perfect. The motion, the lighting, the voice. All of it.

They had the original, sealed months earlier. One hash check later, the forgery collapsed: the receipt's hash didn't match, and the tamper map pointed straight at the three frames where the mouth had been swapped. The story went from "we can't prove it's fake" to "here's the receipt" in under a second.

the receipt did the work

Nobody had to argue about pixels. The ledger said the original was real, the copy wasn't, and it said so in public, forever. That's the whole product — not a better AI detector, but a record that doesn't care who's asking.

proof, not opinions

Deepfake detection is a race. Provenance is a receipt. The race gets harder every month; the receipt just sits there, matching or not matching. We bet on the receipt.
